Car's driver, 23, dies in collision with semi in southeastern Minnesota

The crash occurred about 8:20 a.m. Wednesday on Hwy. 63 south of Stewartville.

A semitrailer truck and a car collided Wednesday morning in southeastern Minnesota, killing the driver of the smaller vehicle and shutting down the highway for many hours, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 8:20 a.m. on Hwy. 63 south of Stewartville, the State Patrol said. The semi was heading northbound on Highway 63. The car, a Chevrolet Impala, was southbound on the same highway.

The highway remained closed until midafternoon, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Killed was a 23-year-old man from LeRoy, Minn. His identity has yet to be released. The truck driver, a 58-year-old man from Arlington, Texas, was not critically hurt.

The patrol has yet to release any information about the circumstances leading up to the wreck.
