A car struck a light pole and flipped over at a St. Paul intersection Monday morning, killing the driver, authorities said.

The crash occurred on White Bear Avenue near Montana Avenue E., according to police.

The driver was Edward A. Ebert, 54, said police spokesman Howie Padilla. No one else was in the vehicle.

The car was heading north on White Bear Avenue at about 9:24 a.m., crossed the center line and hit a light pole before rolling over, Padilla said.

Ebert was taken to Regions Hospital where he died.

There is no indication that alcohol or distracted driving played a role in the crash, Padilla added.
