The Twins are minutes away from taking the field for their first workout of the year, but lefthander Jose Mijares has not been seen.

His clubhouse stall appeared to be untouched, except for a couple boxes and some items that clubhouse attendants place in every stall. It's possible that Mijares is somewhere on campus and just hasn't unpacked yet. But he wasn't seen yesterday when pitchers and catchers were scheduled to report.

The Twins had not heard from Mijares as of last night, and general manager Bill Smith, speaking through baseball communications director Mike Herman, said they wouldn't get concerned until 9 a. m., eastern time, today. We are waiting for clarification of Mijares' whereabouts.

Meanwhile, there were plenty of smiles and backslaps as Twins players and coaches greeted one another before the workout. And, boy, they can't wait for Justin Morneau to arrive after the USA hockey downed Team Canada last night.
