Cameo Critic: Tom Cavanagh

Tom Cavanagh is known for playing glib, wisecracking characters, most notably as the title character on NBC's "Ed," but he's dead serious about his musical tastes. Cavanagh, who co-stars with Eric McCormack in the TNT dramedy "Trust Me" (debuting Jan. 26), digs Muse's "Black Holes and Revelations," as well as the rest of the British band's music.

"I love them for the same reason I like Arcade Fire and Flaming Lips: They're not afraid to be big. We get a lot of pared-down, laid-back stuff these days from singer/songwriters like John Mayer, but you know what? It's great to hear a band who is unapologetic about making a big sound. They go for it. It reminds me of music from the '70s and '80s from groups like ELO, throwing in this and that."
