A 13-year-old bicyclist died Thursday afternoon after being hit by a car while riding in Cambridge.
On Friday, authorities identified the boy as Colin Nathaniel Larson, of rural Cambridge.
The driver was a 16-year-old boy, also from Cambridge, who suffered minor injuries.
The accident happened around 3 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of 329th Avenue and Airport Way.
Isanti County Sheriff Bill Guenther said Friday that, according to witnesses, the 13-year-old rode his bicycle through a stop sign and then was struck by the vehicle. The accident still is under investigation, but no alcohol or drugs are believed to have been involved, Guenther said.
He said the families of both boys know one another.
The driver has not been identified because of the pending investigation.
The schools attended by the two boys have been notified of the accident and will provide counseling to students when school resumes on Monday, according to the Sheriff's Office.
