Steady rain will return to the West Coast through Wednesday as a new Pacificstorm pushes inland. This storm is not entirely potent and will actually weakenrather quickly as it moves inland.The steadiest rain will dampen the Pacific Northwest and northern CaliforniaTuesday night, so the rain will not lead to flash flooding. Motorists shouldstill plan on slower travel along Interstate 5.

Treacherous conditions are expected on the roads through the Cascades andSierra as 3-6 inches of snow falls.
The rain will reach central California late Tuesday night but will weaken inthe process. In fact, the band of rain will diminish so much that SouthernCalifornia can expect dry weather on Wednesday.
Wednesday, however, will not be entirely pleasant in Southern California. Partsof the area will have to contend with gusty winds, the strongest of which willblow along the coast and over the deserts.
The winds may also whip through the Grapevine section of Interstate 5 lateWednesday, posing a danger to motorists. The winds will then shift to a moretypical Santa Ana wind fashion Thursday morning.
