C.J.: Vineeta Sawkar recovering after Porsche demo goes bad

August 25, 2015 at 9:59PM

Twin Cities media personality Vineeta Sawkar told me she is thankful to be alive after a harrowing auto accident Monday.

Porsche enthusiast Magnus Walker was in Minneapolis giving rides to members of the media at an event celebrating the new location of the Porsche dealership, right next door to where it was on the Wayzata Boulevard frontage road. It's too early to know if the StarTribune's senior video host/reporter's injuries are as serious as damage Walker did to the restored 1971 Porsche he was driving.

Patrick George, of jalopnik.com, wrote, "That will likely not buff right out" about the damage done to the vintage Porsche which can be viewed here: http://tinyurl.com/np5f6ng.

I caught up with Sawkar Tuesday as she was home recovering from "a bizarre and scary morning," as she reported on social media.

"This guy, I don't know why he was driving as fast as he was on that [frontage road]," Sawkar told me. "All we wanted was some nice video of him in his car, that he restored. It was bizarre. I'm just thankful I got out of it alive and no one else was hurt."

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
