Business as usual? Not exactly

The league might be in a lockout but that won't stop executives from gathering in New Orleans.

We wrote a story about this for Sunday's paper, but the Access Vikings blog will be taking its show on the road for the next few days to cover the NFL meetings in New Orleans.

Yes, the league and its players are embroiled in a lockout that began a week ago Friday and appears headed for a St. Paul court room on April 6.

The work stoppage -- which has put free agency on hold -- certainly will be the main topic at the Roosevelt Hotel. But we'll also get a chance to visit with Vikings officials, including owner Zygi Wilf, and coach Leslie Frazier will take part in the NFL coaches breakfast on Tuesday.

Proposed rule changes, including one that would move kickoffs from the 30-yard line to the 35, also will be voted upon by owners.

NFL executives will begin arriving on Sunday for the meetings so make sure to check back for updates. The meetings will run through Tuesday.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
