Senior guard Jessica Ranke is the leading scorer returning for the Burnsville girls' basketball team. A closer look at Ranke:

The best movie I've seen in the last year? "Gnomeo and Juliet."

Three songs I never skip on my iPod are ... "Tik Tok" by Kesha; "Beggin'" by Madcon; "Soul Man" by The Blues Brothers.

How did you get started playing basketball? I asked my parents to sign me up.... Eventually I played for traveling and then for my junior high.

What is your favorite meal before a game? A sandwich from Subway or Jimmy John's, or pizza rolls.

At my first varsity practice, I felt ... extremely nervous, but excited.

To get focused for a game, I ... follow the same routine: Get to the school at the same time, change into my uniform and shoes, and shoot around all while listening to my iPod.

What are your goals for the 2011-2012 school year as an athlete? Have fun and win a lot of games.

If you could change one thing about high school sports, what would it be? Nothing. I love them.

Who is your favorite college or pro sports team and why? No favorites, but I watch Duke's guys' basketball team a lot because the rest of my family is obsessed with them.

In 10 years, I hope I'm ... a pediatric surgeon.

What is the best sports advice you ever received? "Somewhere behind the athlete you've become and the hours of practice and the coaches who have pushed you is a little girl who fell in love with the game and never looked back ... play for her." -- Mia Hamm. Not advice, but I really like that quote.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
