Minnesota will stay far below freezing Monday, Jan. 19.
Widespread windchills are expected to keep most of the state cold, with lows reaching 25 to 35 degrees below zero into the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. A cold weather advisory remains in effect through Monday, which is Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Alexandria, Minn., is expected to reach the lowest temperatures early Monday morning, around 36 degrees below zero.
Wind gusts will be above 20 miles per hour throughout the day around the state, too. Sunday evening into Monday morning is expected to see blowing snow and significantly reduced visibility on the roads, the National Weather Service said.
More light snow is expected on Tuesday evening into Wednesday. The Twin Cities have seen 26 inches of snow so far this winter.
Cold temperatures will return on Saturday, hitting 30 below zero.
