Buddy — The Buddy Holly Story

Opens Saturday: Let's hear it one more time! History Theatre brings back this musical biography of the rock 'n' roll icon, starring Nicholas Freeman (pictured). Gary Rue's original musical direction received an Ivey Award in 2011. Freeman leads a combo with Matt Rein on bass and Geoffrey Randall on drums through 24 songs. Also in the cast is Ricardo Vazquez as Ritchie Valens and Brant Miller as the Big Bopper. The production, directed by Ron Peluso, includes the fateful February 1959 concert at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa. Peluso's cast also includes Andrea San Miguel as Maria Elena Holly and Charles Fraser as producer Norman Petty. (Previews 7:30 p.m. Thu.-Fri. Opens 7:30 p.m. Sat., 2 p.m. next Sun. $10-$45.
