Cornerback Marcus Sherels impressed the Vikings enough in a tryout during the team's recent rookie camp that he received a contract. Now, another former Gopher has done the same thing in Tampa Bay.
Center Jeff Tow-Arnett will sign a multiyear deal with the Buccaneers this morning after going through a tryout. That means both Tow-Arnett brothers have signed with NFL teams after failing to be selected in last month's draft.
Tight end Nick Tow-Arnett, who also played for the Gophers, agreed to terms with the Dallas Cowboys right after the draft. Jeff Tow-Arnett had a tough final season with the Gophers, breaking his leg last October against Wisconsin and also suffering some damage to his knee.
Sherels, and both Jeff and Nick are represented by local agent Chris Murray of Imani Sports.
