Much of the Indian Subcontinent withered under scorching sunshine again onSunday. Nawabshah, Pakistan, reached 118 F (48 C) each day of the weekend; thistemperatures is nearly 15 F above average.In New Delhi, high temperatures of 111 F (44 C) and 109 F (43 C) wererecorded over the weekend. The low temperature on Saturday night was anuncomfortable 87 F (31 C). This low is nearly 20 F above normal, while the hightemperatures are 10 to 15 degrees F above normal.
At least 50 people have died during this heat wave in India. Daily hightemperatures are expected to remain at or above 104 degrees F (40 C) in NewDelhi; temperatures elsewhere in northern India can reach as high as 115degrees F (46 C).
