With the recent closing of the Uptown Bar and Sunnyside Up Café, my wife and I were in search of the next great breakfast spot in Uptown. Upon doing some research (beer sampling included) I scouted out The Lyndale Tap House located at 2937 Lyndale South. The beer selection is excellent and the offerings change weekly which decreases your chance of getting a funky tasting beverage. One look at the menu is sure to impress anyone with a palette for good food and the beer list will certainly please any beer lover. We went for a test run last Saturday and came away impressed.
My wife chose the Tap House Slam which lets you enjoy the best of both worlds, sweet and salty. Too often menus make you choose between the two, which can lead to regret and disappointment. Let me just say that the French Toast did not disappoint and the hard cider toffee sauce that was poured over the top was very tasty. The bacon was of the thick cut variety and very meaty, sure to please any bacon lover. Who doesn't love bacon anyway?
I chose the Pit Beef Hash and as a lover of spicy food, this really hit the spot. The sirloin gravy that covered the mound of beef, eggs, potatoes, peppers and onions really made the dish. Even the toast that was served with the dish was special with an unexpected spiced flavor. To top it all off each brunch menu item is served with a complimentary mimosa to kill that headache from last night's activities.
One can see that the owner of this establishment knows good food and beverage and definitely knows how to price the menu so that it will accommodate most budgets. Nothing on the menu is intimidating when it comes to prices and the portions are large but not over the top. While we'll always miss our old favorites, we're glad to have found a new go-to place for breakfast after a long weekend night. Cheers!
