A hit-and-run in Brooklyn Park now has a fatality, after the death of a 23-year-old man who was run over two weeks ago. Whoever was behind the wheel has yet to come forward.

Seth G. Bennett, of Brooklyn Park, died at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale after suffering a multitude of injuries, the Hennepin County medical examiner's office said Saturday. Bennett's family said he was taken off life support on Thursday night.

Police said Bennett was hit near his home shortly after 11 p.m. on Nov. 8 by a dark-colored car heading south on County Road 81 at 71st Avenue N. Neither the driver nor the vehicle, with probable front-end damage, has been found, police said Monday.

In an account posted on a fundraising page for Bennett's medical expenses, the family says he was walking in a crosswalk and the driver ran a red light.

Bennett suffered severe brain bleeding, broken legs, a broken collar bone and shoulder blade and a bruised lung, the posting noted.

The family said Bennett, who had high-functioning autism, had graduated from Vector Transition Program in Brooklyn Park and for the past three years had worked for Opportunity Partners in Minnetonka, which helps people with disabilities find employment.

Bennett's funeral is at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9141 County Road 101, Corcoran.
