A Brooklyn Park man was indicted by a Dakota County grand jury Friday in the fatal stabbing of a pregnant woman carrying his child.

Vern Jason Mouelle, 23, was indicted with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder, according to the Dakota County attorney's office. Mouelle's alleged actions were premeditated and with intent to kill.

Moulle fatally stabbed Senicha M. Lessman, 25, on her neck in her Eagan apartment on Jan. 24, according to charges. The attack also killed the unborn son she had been carrying for 32 weeks.

Lessman's mother had identified Mouelle as the child's father, according to the charges.

"These charges reflect allegations that this was a premeditated and intentional domestic-related homicide," County Attorney James Backstrom said in a written statement Friday.

Mouelle initially was charged with second-degree murder last month. His first court appearance on the indictment is Monday. His bail is set at $2 million without conditions.
