A woman held up a bank in Brooklyn Center, but authorities said the robbery is unrelated to two earlier heists in the past four weeks in the Twin Cities.
The latest holdup occurred shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday at a Wells Fargo branch in the 5600 block of Brooklyn Boulevard, according to the FBI and police scanner communication.
The woman gave the teller a note demanding money and suggesting that she was armed, a Brooklyn Center officer told dispatch. The woman fled with cash and remains at large.
Authorities describe the suspect as white, in her 30s, wearing an oversized gray sweater, a hat, and large sunglasses.
Though officials initially thought the robbery might be related to a March 23 robbery in Minneapolis and one April 3 in Maplewood, they've ruled out the link.
Brooklyn Center Police Cmdr. Garett Flesland said he's been told "it is not the same" woman.
In the Maplewood holdup at the TCF Bank branch inside a Cub Foods on County Road B near Rice Street, a young woman handed the teller a note and implied that she had a gun.
The suspect was described as white and in her early to mid-20s. She was wearing a gray sweatshirt with the hood up, black yoga pants and mostly black gym shoes. Her hair was dark, with possible highlights.
