UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar will fight again, according to multiple sources who have spoken to the media in the last week.
Despite his desire to start training again and be ready to fight in either the spring or summer, there are still questions relating to his recent bout with diverticulitis and if he will be able to get back into competitive shape without undergoing another round of surgery.
"Brock Lesnar is definitely coming back to fight," said Greg Nelson, owner of the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy and one of Lesnar's head trainers. "He's just kinda coming up slowing, training, getting his body ready and being smart with his recovery."
Nelson's comments were made this morning on MMA Live, ESPN.com's weekly MMA webcast.
"He's been going into the doctor and making sure everything is going well and he'll make sure to go in for a couple of more tests to make sure he's 100% ready to train when he starts up."
Lesnar's lead trainer, former University of Minnesota head assistant wrestling coach Marty Morgan, talked a bit about the situation at the National High School duels in Rochester last week.
"Everyone's asking about his health. He had a bout with a bacterial infection in his intestinal tract in November, and now we're just kind of working our way to get back to where we need to get back to fight."
The status of Lesnar's health has been the best kept secret in MMA, since the few people that he's talked to about the situation have all kept quite.
