DAKOTA COUNTY
Gardening classes at county librariesIt's time to start thinking about spring, and Dakota County libraries are offering classes on two different gardening techniques during the next month.
On March 17, John Zweber will present "Square Foot Gardening" from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Robert Trail Library, 14395 S. Robert Trail in Rosemount. Zweber, who owns Easy Gardens by John, will explain how to construct and tend a garden box, an ideal solution for someone who doesn't have much space but is interested in growing some vegetables.
On March 20 and April 2, a speaker from the Dakota County Soil and Water Conservation District will discuss "Blue Thumb: Planting for Clean Water," an introduction to gardens that help keep pollutants out of the local water supply. Both workshops will begin at 6:15 p.m. and last until 8:15 p.m. The March 20 session will be at the Pleasant Hill Library, 1490 S. Frontage Road in Hastings; the April 2 session will be at the Farmington Library, 508 Third St. in Farmington.
