Freedom for convict William J. Boldt was brief. He got a hefty prison sentence Monday for a robbery that he committed on Jan. 20 -- just three days after he got out of prison for another offense.

Monday, Boldt, 38, of St. Paul, pleaded guilty in Dakota County District Court to one count of first-degree aggravated robbery. Judge Timothy McManus immediately sentenced him to 18 years in prison for the armed robbery of the AmericInn Hotel in Hastings, in which a clerk was bound.

Three co-defendants have been charged.

Lorenzo Barker is to appear in court on Feb. 28, and Michael Dziuba on March 14. Both are 21 and from St. Paul. Ebony Black, 22, of West St. Paul, is charged by warrant.

Boldt had been released from state prison on Jan. 17, where he was serving a five-year sentence for possession of a firearm by a felon.
