Monday is the day that Dakota County and the Minnesota Department of Transportation begin work on County Road 42 in Burnsville.

The westbound lanes over the County Road 42 bridge over Interstate 35W for five weeks while crews work replace the bridge deck and repair sidewalks. The signals at Buck Hill Road will be upgraded.

The lanes are expected to open around May 22 when the eastbound lanes will close.

During the closure of the westbound lanes, access to northbound I-35W will remain open but drivers will not have access to Buck Hill Road. Motorists should use County Road 11, I-35E or northbound I-35W to access westbound County Road 42.

Drivers on southbound I-35W will be able to exit at County Road 42 and will be able to use Buck Hill Road and both eastbound and westbound County 42.
