A St. Croix River crossing north of the Twin Cities soon will be closed for nearly the rest of September for repairs to the span as well as work to address hillside erosion.

The Hwy. 243/Osceola Bridge is scheduled to be closed by Tuesday's morning commute until the end of the day on Sept. 28, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

During the closing, all traffic will follow a posted detour north to cross the river at Taylors Falls, Minn.

Crews will be repairing the bridge deck, resurfacing the road and repairing hillside erosion.

After the bridge reopens, a two-day closing will be scheduled later to complete pavement work. All work is expected to be complete by Oct. 21, MnDOT officials have projected.
