Brees wins NFC honor

Adrian Peterson might have rushed for 3 TDs, but that wasn't enough to win NFC offensive player of the week honors

Adrian Peterson's performance Sunday in Cleveland might have been impressive but it wasn't enough to earn him NFC offensive player of the week honors.

New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees, who threw for 358 yards and six touchdowns against Detroit, was named the winner of that award, according to an item on the website ProFootballTalk. Peterson rushed for 180 yards on 25 carries and had three touchdowns, including a 64-yarder on which he broke six tackles, in the Vikings' 34-20 victory.

Brees' heroics came in a 45-27 victory over the Detroit Lions. Something tells me Peterson is going to have another shot at the award next week, considering the Vikings will play Detroit at Ford Field this Sunday.

Why do I think that?

Consider that Saints running back Mike Bell had 143 yards rushing on 28 attempts against Detroit.
