A pretty hip and noteworthy booking for the Minnesota State Fair music team, Brandi Carlile has been nabbed as one of the fair's Grandstand headliners for Aug. 29, according to the singer's just-announced summer tour itinerary. Look for fair staff to announce ticket info soon. With Rush and Weird Al Yankovic the only other two headliners so far confirmed for the Grandstand (and Garrison Keillor & Co. also expected back as usual), Carlile certainly ups the sexy and/or youthful quotient of the fair bookings by about 9,000%. The Seattle-reared singer/songwriter continues to rack up loads of radio and TV play with her Rick Rubin-produced breakthrough album "Give Up the Ghost," which came out in October. She's also performing on Lilith Fair this summer, but not our local installment (July 18 at Canterbury Park).
