A four-point weekend earned Gophers senior forward Travis Boyd the Big Ten First Star of the Week on Tuesday morning.

Boyd scored three goals, two of which were the eventual game-winners, and picked up an assist in the weekend sweep of Bemidji State.

The three goals were scored with the Gophers special teams on the ice. Boyd scored a power-play goal and shorthanded for his first career multi-goal game in Friday night's 5-2 win. He responded with another power-play goal in Saturday night's 5-3 victory.

The Washington Capitals draft pick has 60 points (16 goals, 44 assists) in 120 career games.

Michigan freshman forward Dylan Larkin was the Second Star of the Week and Penn State junior goaltender Matthew Skoff was the Third Star.

The Gophers have claimed First Star honors after both weekends of action. Sophomore forward Hudson Fasching was the First Star after the season-opening Ice Breaker Tournament.

The Gophers travel to St. Cloud State on Friday night for the first leg of a home-and-home series with the in-state rival. The series returns to Mariucci Arena on Saturday at 4 p.m.
