A 5-year-old boy riding in the bucket of a skid loader outside his home south of the Twin Cities fell and was crushed by the equipment being operated by a relative, Goodhue County authorities said Friday.
Matt Mallett was injured shortly before 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the family's home on Sunset Trail in Cannon Falls Township, according to the Sheriff's Office.
The skid loader was being driven by the boy's great-aunt, Gail A. Henderson, 49, who also lives at the home, the Sheriff's Office said.
The boy died while being treated at Cannon Falls Hospital.
