A 4-year-old boy pulled from an indoor pool at an Eagan apartment building appears to be a drowning victim, police said Monday.

Emergency responders descended on the Town Centre at Lexington apartments near Yankee Doodle Road and Lexington Avenue S. shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday, police said.

The boy was unresponsive when removed from the pool, and resuscitation efforts were made before he was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, police added.

"Other people were present inside the pool area," police spokesman, Officer Aaron Machtemes, said in a statement.

The boy's identity has yet to be released, and authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
