A 3-year-old boy who fell into a septic tank northeast of Duluth has died, authorities said.

Mick Johnston, of Duluth Township, was unconscious when rescuers got him out of the tank at his home Sunday evening, according to the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.

He was flown from Essentia Health-St. Mary's Children's Hospital from the family's home about halfway between Duluth and Two Harbors. He "sadly passed away late last night," the Sheriff's Office read. Paul Walsh
