Booty released again

John David Booty was released by the Vikings for the second consecutive week as the team signed DeAndre Wright to its practice squad

The Vikings made it official today, announcing on their website that they have signed cornerback DeAndre Wright to their practice squad. Wright was one of three corners who worked out for the Vikings on Tuesday and an agreement with him was reached last night.

Once again, quarterback John David Booty is the odd man out. Booty was released last Wednesday so the Vikings could make room for offensive lineman Clint Oldenburg. On Saturday, Booty was re-signed and Oldenburg was released. Now, Booty finds himself out of a job once again.

Wright is being brought in primarily because the Vikings needed to add some practice depth at cornerback with Antoine Winfield having suffered a sprained right foot last Sunday against the Ravens. The Vikings will begin preparations for Sunday's game at Pittsburgh today so we should get a better idea of WInfield's status. It seems doubtful he will do any work today but we won't know until late this afternoon when the injury report is released.
