Bonjour: Wolves vs. Knicks in Paris

They've just thrown up the opening tip in Paris, the end of the Wolves' whirlwind two-game European tour.

Corey Brewer started at shooting guard after Wesley Johnson started there Monday in London.

Shooting guard looks like the only the spot where they'll be auditioning starters in the preseason.

The other four sure looks like locks: Ridnour (until Flynn returns healthy) at the point, Beasley at small forward, Darko at center, Love at power forward.

Still think Martell Webster will end up at that spot.

Sebastian Telfair seeing his first preseason action today after missing Monday's game with a sore hamstring.

Wolves, btw, down 15-5 early and have at least seven TOs.

UPDATE AT THE HALF:

Wolves trail by only one, 48-47, even though they have 16 TOs, are missing FTs (12-18) and Beasley has just four points in nearly 14 minutes.

Love already has a double-double -- 11 and 11 -- and Martell and Pekovic each has nine.

Pekovic is looking pretty good, big and strong of course but also showed some nifty footwork spinning baseline for a basket.

UPDATE POSTGAME

Wolves 106, Knicks 100

They're now 2-0 in preseason despite a lousy start tonight and 30 total turnovers, a sum Kevin Love called "atrocious, to say the least."

Michael Beasley went 4 for 12, Kevin Love 4 for 16 in about 25 minutes each, but it was the second unit -- Webster, Johnson, Tolliver, Pekovic and Telfair -- that got them back in the game and then some.

Webster now has averaged 20.5 points in the first two games -- 24 Monday in London, 17 tonight in Paris -- and has shown, at least in this brief glimpse, that Rambis and Kahn might have been quite right in saying he can do more than just spot-up shooting. He's been able to get to the basket and has shown he can create his own shot some.

Weird to see a Wolves team that plays above the rim some, isn't it?

Did you see that DeMarcus Cousins went for 16 and 16 in his preseason debut with Sacramento Tuesday night? He might very well battle John Wall for Rookie of the Year, but the Wolves also might someday be grateful they got Wesley Johnson fourth overall rather Evan Turner, who Philly took second.

Johnson is so smooth, especially from three-point range. Just completely effortless, or so it looks. He went 3 for 4 from three today and is now 4 for 5 in two games from there.

That's 80 percent, sports fans.

Didn't see Lazar Hayward or Kosta Koufos at all tonight.

Corey Brewer started at shooting guard but played just 15 minutes and went 0 for 4. He's now 1 for 13 in two preseason games.

It shouldn't be long until Webster takes over that starting 2 guard spot, should it? Johnson has great talent, but Webster has played five seasons in the league and, yes, they're both the same age.

That's pretty long and lean and active if you bring Johnson and Brewer off the bench.

The Wolves gathered for dinner after the game and now are getting on a plane in the middle of the Paris night and will fly straight home.

Rambis said after the game that he'll get the Wolves off the plane Thursday morning and into practice, if only to stretch their legs and limber their bodies after a long flight.
