Bomb explodes near airport

A suicide car bomb exploded outside the military entrance to Kabul International Airport in Afghanistan early Wednesday, police said.

The northern gate to the airport is normally crowded with civilian workers waiting to go through security checks, but there were no civilian casualties, according to Ebadullah Karimi, a spokesman for the Kabul police.

A spokeswoman for the U.S.-led International Security Assistance Force said the attackers did not enter the base. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack, saying that the bomb was directed at a convoy of "German invaders," killed or wounded 10 foreigners. NYT
