A Greyhound bus heading to Chicago from the Twin Cities was halted on Interstate 94 in Woodbury about 1 p.m. Thursday for about 90 minutes after a passenger made comments about bombs.
The passenger was taken into custody without incident, said Lt. Eric Roeske of the Minnesota State Patrol, and no evidence of a bomb was found. The comments were not a direct bomb threat.
"It might be much ado about nothing," Roeske said. "But you can't take these things lightly."
The bus pulled over to the shoulder east of the Radio Drive interchange just behind the Woodbury Lakes shopping center, and several squad cars converged. Passengers were temporarily transferred to a Metro Transit bus and taken away from the scene, then were returned to the bus by about 2:30 p.m., and were on their way again. Pre-rush hour traffic was temporarily slowed.
A spokesperson for Greyhound could not be reached for comment.
The passengers seemed to be taking the unscheduled delay about as well as any other frustrated travelers.
"Hey! We want our money back!" shouted one, as many laughed.
