The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office said a body has been found in Plymouth's Medicine Lake and is believed to be that of missing kayaker Paul Linden Myklebust.

Sheriff Rich Stanek said a body was recovered in 10 feet of water, about 100 yards from shore, about 3 p.m. Monday.

Stanek said Sheriff's Office sonar equipment detected a target and divers recovered the body between the shoreline and where the kayak was found.

"We are treating it as a missing person case," Stanek said. "We don't know what happened. We are not looking for any suspects, but we don't know how he died."

Myklebust, 31, was last seen kayaking around 2 a.m. Saturday at the lake with a friend, sheriff's officials said Saturday. He left a nearby party and headed to the lake, where he and a friend became separated after they fell into the water.
