The body of a 24-year-old Stillwater woman, missing since last week, is believed to have been found Saturday afternoon in the St. Croix River north of Stillwater, according to law enforcement sources familiar with the case.

Foul play is not suspected but the cause of death remains open, sources said.

A positive identification of Abbey Russell is pending upon completion of an autopsy that will be performed by the Ramsey County medical examiner's office on Monday.

A person who was fishing on the river a few miles north of the city found the body of a woman floating in the water about 4 p.m., sources said. Russell, who disappeared on April 24, was originally from Wisconsin and had recently moved to Stillwater from Florida. She had been working as a server at Pub 112 in downtown Stillwater for two weeks before she was reported missing.
