The body of a college student has been recovered from a car that went into a western Wisconsin river several days earlier, authorities said.

University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire student Chloe T. Zielke, 21, and her car were pulled from the Chippewa River midafternoon Tuesday in an effort that included fire, police and volunteer personnel, according to the Police Department.

"At this time, there are no suspects thought to be involved with Zielke's vehicle entering the water, and no criminal acts are believed to be associated," read a statement from police.

Zielke, from Eau Claire, was speeding on westbound Gilbert Avenue early Friday and did not brake before going in the river, police said.

Officers found vehicle debris along the shoreline that included a license plate, and a fire crew used sonar equipment to locate the submerged car that same day.

Because of high water levels, it took until Tuesday to get the car out of the water.

"We would like to thank community members for their patience while we investigated this matter," the police statement read.
