A body found in a ditch along a central Minnesota highway is believed to be that of a missing 22-year-old man, authorities said.

The man, from St. Cloud, was last seen about 2:10 a.m. Tuesday walking alone in a parking lot on the 500 block of NW 66th Street in Sauk Rapids, according to the Benton County Sheriff's Office.

An acquaintance called police Tuesday afternoon when the man couldn't be located after going out with friends Monday night.

On Wednesday, an investigator with the St. Cloud police was in the area where the man was last seen and found a body in a ditch near the intersection of County Road 33 and Hwy. 10 in Benton County.

Investigators say the report of a missing man and the discovery of a body "are believed to be related."

Authorities said there is no danger to the public.
