A body pulled from the Mississippi River near the Wakota Bridge on Monday is believed to be that of a person reported missing in late April.

The body was recovered at 11:23 a.m. The person's name has not been released, pending identification and notification of family.

The Dakota County Sheriff's Office said it appears the body was in the water several days and is related to a missing person case handled by Mendota Heights police.

On April 25, a citizen reported an abandoned bicycle on the Mendota Bridge and police then discovered a vehicle nearby, also abandoned. On April 29, a member of the clergy reported a missing person to Minneapolis police and said the person had been depressed and considering suicide.

The abandoned car was registered to the person, and a manual for the bike was found at the person's address.
