The blizzard that has been pounding areas from Minnesota to the Dakotas andNebraska since Christmas Eve will continue to impact the region today. Fargo,N.D., Rapid City, S.D., and Valentine, Neb., will continue to have white-outconditions as gusty northerly winds whip both falling snow and snow that hasalready fallen.Even though snowfall amounts will be greatly reduced today, these strong windswill cause massive snow drifts that will further clog roadways, while prolongedwhiteouts will prove to be extremely hazardous for motorists and anyone whomust go outdoors.
The danger surrounding the blizzard has forced officials to close numerousroads, including lengthy stretches of interstates. Travel is stronglydiscouraged where roads are not barricaded. If you must travel, be sure to packa winter survival kit as there is a high chance that you may becomestranded.
