Unranked Blake upset Orono, the top boys' hockey team in Class 1A, 3-2 on Saturday, handing the Spartans their first loss of the season.

The score was tied 1-1 after two periods. Dane Korsi scored to give the Spartans the lead. Aaron Frenkel answered for the Bears on a power play less than 90 seconds later.

With less than eight minutes left to play Miller scored the game-winning goal for the Bears, his team-leading fourth goal of the season. Charlie Ankeny set him up with the assist. Ankeny's goal in the second period opened the Bears' scoring.

In other boys' hockey action:

Apple Valley 4, Lakeville North 2: The Eagles spotted the Panthers a two-goal lead early in the first, but scored four unanswered goals the rest of the way. Parker Jamison and Nick Plagge both had a goal and an assist to lead the Eagles offense. Lucky Bolden made 32 saves.

Holy Family 4, Delano 2: Ben Almquist scored twice in the second period to lead the offensive attack for the Fire. It was part of a four-goal run for the Fire before the Tigers' Jack Paulson scored his second goal of the game late in the third period.

Girls' hockey

Edina 5, Wayzata 3: Emily Oden led the top-ranked Hornets with two goals and an assist. Loli Fidler, a Harvard commit, had a goal and two assists.

Shakopee 5, Prior Lake 2: Jackie Falk scored four goals to lead the Sabres against South Suburban Conference rival Lakers.

Mound Westonka 2, Willmar 0: Taylor Smith stopped all 24 shots that came her way to lead the White Hawks defense. It was her second shutout in a week. Sydney Hules put the White Hawks ahead with a power-play goal in the second period.

Boys' basketball

Marshall 69, Orono 65: The Tigers held off a second-half rally from the visiting Class 3A, No. 2 Spartans. Matt Onken led the Tigers with 21 points. Jarvis Omersa led the Spartans with 22 points before fouling out with 4:01 in the game.

Rochester John Marshall 74, Osseo 70: Matthew Hurt had 40 points and 19 rebounds to lead the unbeaten Rockets past the visiting Class 4A, No. 10 Orioles. Hurt has scored at least 38 points in each of the Rockets' five games and is averaging 42.2 points per game.

St. Paul Central 69, Minneapolis Roosevelt 68: Dion Ford's buzzer beater secured the Minutemen's first win of the season at the Southside High School Showcase in Burnsville. The junior finished with 15 points.

Brooklyn Center 78, Benilde-St. Margaret's 76: The Red Knights came up just short against the Class 2A, No. 6 Centaurs. Adreone Sprinkles had a game-high 24 points for the Centaurs and Lu'Cye Patterson added 22. Joe Dunn scored 22 for the Red Knights.

Monticello 107, Becker 104: Matt Todd led the Magic with 36 points.

Wrestling

Minnesota Christmas tournament: Tyler Eischens' 8-0 major decision in the 152 final in Rochester gave Anoka a half-point lead going into the final weight. The Tornadoes ended up winning with 175.5 points, edging Simley (175) and Shakopee (174.5). Apple Valley was fourth with 168.5. The Tornadoes won for the first time in the tournament's 31-year history.
