Diners in White Bear Lake have a new place to eat and drink outside. Rudy's Redeye Grill recently opened what is believed to be the city's only rooftop bar.
Called Rudy's Rooftop, the space has seating for 70 people, including room for 20 at a full-service bar. It also 10 tables, sofas and a fireplace, said bar manager Jeff Swanson.
Unlike the downstairs restaurant, the rooftop offers a limited menu consisting mainly of sandwiches, burgers and five different salads, Swanson said.
Rudy's Rooftop is open from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 9 a.m. to midnight Sundays. It will remain open until mid-October, or longer into the fall if weather permits.
Voted Best New Restaurant by Twin Cities Monthly in 2003, the restaurant at 4940 N. Hwy. 61 is best known for its pan-fried walleye, char-broiled steaks, and its signature Drunk 'n Dirty pork chops.

Buy a paper paw, help save a petMister Car Wash is holding its second Paws-a-thon fund-raiser, and the Animal Humane Society will be one of the beneficiaries.
During July, customers who patronize any Mister Car Wash nationwide can buy a paper paw for $1, $5 or $10, and the car wash will donate the money to one of 15 agencies across the country that work to protect and care for animals, including the Animal Humane Society which serves Washington County and the greater Twin Cities metropolitan area. The paws with the customer's name will be displayed on the wall. Last year the campaign raised nearly $50,000.
Mister Car Wash has locations at 5900 Osgood Av. N. in Stillwater and 8420 E. Point Douglas Road in Cottage Grove. It also has locations in West St. Paul, Roseville, Shoreview, Columbia Heights, Anoka, Edina, St. Louis Eden Prairie, Brooklyn Park and Plymouth.
