Patti DeGrood and Carol Clexton are taking their "insanely delicious" gourmet popcorn to the streets.

The duo launched a new company called Three Mad Poppers at the end of July and bought a truck they will take to the Bayport Farmers' Market on Mondays, and to other locations throughout eastern areas of Washington County on other days of the week.

With the number of food trucks on the rise, the pair cooked up the idea and created their line of popcorn that they sell in small, medium and large bags. So far they have 19 flavors, including the Minnesota Mix of maple, cheddar and bacon, and the Windy City Mix consisting of caramel and cheddar. Additional flavors will be added in the fall, DeGrood said.

"We have the best time making our different flavors," she said. "I love to cook."

In addition to doing business out of their butter cream yellow truck with "Yum," "Zesty," "Delicious" and "Popcorn" on the side, the pair also will take orders through www.threemadpoppers .com or by phone at 651-967-9033.
