The McDonald's at Weir Drive near Valley Creek Road in Woodbury is expected to be torn down and rebuilt in 2011, according to building applications and city staff.

Senior planner Melissa Douglas said the developer is planning to add a double drive-thru and revamp the parking lot.

"We are pleased to see continued reinvestment in the Woodbury community," Douglas said.

Apartments to get clubhouse addition The Valley Creek Apartment complex put in an application with the city for site plan approval to build a 2,800-square-foot addition to its clubhouse, said Gary Vogel, partner at Minneapolis-based BKV Group.

Vogel said the company would also remodel the existing 2,300-square-foot clubhouse, expanding the fitness center and tots area for children, and adding a new club room for parties as well as a new leasing office.

The cost of the project is estimated at $600,000. Construction should begin in the spring, he said.

Purchase plan for State Farm extended The sale of the State Farm complex in Woodbury was expected to close before the end of 2010 but buyer Wellington Management recently reported it was granted an extension on the purchase agreement.

The company announced in August it intended to purchase and develop the 95.5-acre property and building at Radio Drive and Interstate 94. The property has been vacant for five years since State Farm consolidated its operations.

"We have agreed to a short-term extension and are working with the seller on a potential longer-term extension that would allow us to put all the pieces in place to lead to an acquisition in 2011," said Tanya Bell, vice president for acquisitions and development.
