Biz beat: Dental, senior health care businesses opening in Farmington

Farmington will hold at least two more ribbon cuttings this month.

On Friday Trinity Senior Care Services will officially open its memory care building at 205 11th St. The following Tuesday, Park Dental Farmington cuts a ribbon.

City Planner Lee Smick says a Verizon phone store is opening this month in the City Center shopping center off Elm Street.

Hastings gains clothing shop

A clothing shop opened last month in downtown Hastings. Lah-Tee-Dah sells contemporary designer clothing and accessories for men and women at 200 E. 2nd St. The shop occupies the former Fast Eddie's RC Warehouse. It was created by Hastings resident Katie Kasel.

Chamber loses longtime chief Van Helden

The Burnsville Chamber of Commerce is losing executive director Daron Van Helden after a decade of service.

"I'm looking forward to this new challenge that begins Aug. 8," he wrote on the chamber website last week. "I will certainly miss this wonderful organization, the difference it makes and all of you, as members, that make it happen," Van Helden wrote. He plans to stay involved in the community and the "broader chamber universe."

Van Helden said a replacement search is getting underway.

Thai food replaces sushi

The Spice Thai restaurant has obtained a building permit to remodel a former sushi bar in Lakeville Crossings at 160th Street and Cedar Avenue, said Dave Olson, city community development director. The business already had received a beer and wine license from the City Council.
