Birmingham Struck by Possible Tornado

A tornado reportedly ripped through the south side of Birmingham on Sundayafternoon, while damaging thunderstorm winds rattled across the Montgomery andAtlanta areas. In the south side of Birmingham, the roofs of two homes wereleft exposed to the plywood, and the shingles of many other homes were blownaway. A few gutters were also blown away, while numerous trees were snapped,and big oak trees were uprooted. Fortunately, no one was injured in the city.Meanwhile, strong winds damaged the Auburn University soccer field inMontgomery. Several trees were downed in Atlanta, and one house sustainedmoderate damage from violent storms in the area. About 10,000 customers werewithout power in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
