Bill Diedrich: Do some quick maintenance

May 14, 2008 at 12:58AM

Do some quick maintenance for a successful start to the fishing/boating season. Check fluid levels on all non-maintenance-free batteries. Add distilled water if necessary. Fully charge all batteries; don't overcharge. Clean all terminals and connections and snug up battery connections with a wrench. Check other connections such as wire nuts and screws. Clean the transducer face with a nylon scrub pad. Keep bug repellents and sunscreen off the locator screen.

Bill Diedrich is a retired Minnetonka math teacher with a love of fishing electronics.
