Two separate crashes in Minneapolis on Thursday left a bicyclist and motorcyclist with life-threatening injuries.

An SUV and a motorcycle collided about 3:40 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of NE. Marshall Street and St. Anthony Parkway. The SUV driver, who was in the northbound lane of Marshall, was turning west onto the parkway. The motorcyclist was traveling south on Marshall, said police spokesman John Elder.

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital, where he is being treated for life-threatening injuries, Elder said.

The SUV driver remained at the scene of the crash and is cooperating with investigators.

About an hour later, Minneapolis police were called to the scene of a crash between a bicyclist and a commercial truck in downtown Minneapolis.

The bicyclist and the truck were both headed north on S. 3rd Avenue when the driver of the truck turned east on S. 2nd Street, striking the bicyclist. "There was every indication that the bicyclist was in the bike lane on Third Avenue South," Elder said.

The bicyclist was taken to HCMC, where he is being treated for possible life-threatening injuries, Elder said.

The truck driver is cooperating with investigators, Elder said.
