A bicyclist was in critical condition Saturday after a car heading east on Excelsior Boulevard hit her near France Avenue S., close to the Minneapolis-St. Louis Park border.

The accident happened around 2:45 p.m.

The driver immediately stopped and is cooperating with police, said Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the crash, he said.

The woman, who was unresponsive at the scene, was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, Elder said.

The eastbound lanes of Excelsior Boulevard were closed off at France Avenue for a time, and traffic was diverted to alternate routes.
