We didn't get one of the big gigs with Dead & Co. this summer, but Twin Cities Deadheads may have landed something better: a much more intimate, stripped-down show with Bob Weir's new trio this spring.

The de facto Dead leader has confirmed a March 19 gig at the Palace Theatre in St. Paul with veteran producer/sideman Don Was on bass and Ratdog drummer Jay Lane. Tickets will be $60-$100 and sold several different ways, including a scalper-fighting Verified Fan option and other pre-sale opportunities starting Wednesday. The general on-sale is Friday at 10 a.m via eTix.com.

Calling themselves Bob Weir & the Wolf Bros., the group played an initial string of dates last fall and were well-received, thanks in part to a decent smattering of Dead songs usually scattered in their otherwise widely varying set lists from night to night, including "West L.A. Fadeaway," "Dark Star," "Althea," "Brokedown Palace" and "Friend of the Devil." Their shows also usually included at least a couple Bob Dylan tunes as well as other covers by Little Feat, the Beatles, Warren Zevon and several of the old blues gods.
