Lust for life
One of punk rock's most enduring icons — and still its most agile — Iggy Pop is back after a string of reunion outings by his beloved Stooges, all of which aggravatingly skipped the Twin Cities. That it's his first time in Minnesota since 2001 is momentous enough, but there's also excitement over Iggy's new solo album, "Post Pop Depression," a collaboration with Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme that harks back to Iggy's David Bowie-produced late-'70s LPs "The Idiot" and "Lust for Life." He and Homme are focusing on all three records on tour with a band that also includes QOTSA bassist Dean Fertita and Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders.chris riemenschneider

Arcade Fire fans are in for a real treat at a solo gig by the band's violinist, Sarah Neufeld. Also known from the Bell Orchestre and a collaboration with Justin Vernon's saxophonist pal Colin Stenson, the Montreal musician blends neoclassical and ambient/drone music influences with bold, experimental flair on her second solo album, "The Ridge." Neufeld sings a little but mostly lets her bowing take the spotlight, sometimes eerily, sometimes elegantly.
