"What a ride it's been for this band." Conan O'Brien wasn't joking when he introduced these smiley, melodic, rhythmically jubilant underage rockers on his late-night TV show in March; most of them had just left their parents' houses in Woodbury for their first-ever tour a week earlier. Before that, they put their local arts high-school training to use with a series of excitedly received club shows and one locally acclaimed EP, produced by Low's Alan Sparhawk. They have a second EP about to land and an opening job with My Morning Jacket at Northrop Auditorium on June 26. hippocampusband.com
